Mature and encouraging PA required in S14

IBK are supporting a family to find and recruit a personal assistant to work with their daughter who is 21 years old. This young lady has a diagnosis of autism, delayed language and epilepsy. People who know her well describe her as kind, truthful and mature with a cracking sense of humour! This young person can get overwhelmed and anxious, she struggles in social situations and can misread or misinterpret social communication.

Job description

The focus of this support is to provide some emotional and practical support to enable this young person to build on her independence, manage her anxiety and increase her opportunities to go out and do the things she enjoys. The role will be varied and may include visiting museums, working on healthy eating and budgeting, eating out, going to the park and working on independent travel.

This is a permanent part-time position

Hours

16 hours per week over 3 days
Mondays , Wednesdays and Thursdays
Hours of work negotiable for the right PA

Willing to learn from the young person and their family.
Be friendly, reliable, and honest; and maintain confidentiality.

Have a genuine desire to enhance the young person’s life and boost their self-confidence.
A good sense of humour.
Resilient nature
Car driver with use of a car for work

Desirable

An understanding of the nature of this type of support work.
Experience and understanding of autism and anxiety
Having interests, hobbies and skills you could share with the young person.
