Mature and encouraging PA required in S14

IBK are supporting a family to recruit a Personal Assistant to work with their daughter who is 21 years old. This young woman has a diagnosis of autism, delayed language and epilepsy. People who know her well describe her as kind, truthful and mature with a cracking sense of humour! She can struggle in social situations and easily gets overwhelmed and anxious. She can misread or misinterpret social communication.

16 hours per week over 3 days: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays ideally. However the days and hours of work are negotiable for the right PA.

Part-time, permanent

Salary: £9.21 per hour

Job description

The focus of this support is to provide some emotional and practical support to enable this young woman to build on her independence, manage her anxiety and increase opportunities to go out and do the things she enjoys. The role will be varied and may include visiting museums, working on healthy eating and budgeting, eating out, going to the park and helping her travel independently.

Car driver with use of a car for work
Be willing to apply for a DBS through Sheffield City Council (we will guide you through this process)

An understanding of the nature of this type of support work
Experience and understanding of autism and anxiety
Having interests, hobbies and skills you could share with the young person.
