IBK are supporting a family to recruit a PA to support their adult son to lead the life he chooses and enjoys. You will be joining a team of two PA’s.
This young man is autistic, has a severe learning disability and communication difficulties. His hobbies include swimming and anything to do with water! He also enjoys going bowling, taking part in Zumba classes, going trampolining, visiting different parks and other towns, cities and shopping centres.
He enjoys a routine but also likes to explore new places and activities….especially if the day involves being around water. He requires support to gently encourage him to build on his independence and try new things, as well as enabling him to go out and do the things he enjoys.
9am-5pm on Mondays, Thursday, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
Plus holiday cover as and when required. Post can be split between a couple of PA’s.
£9.98 per hour
Job description
The family are looking for a PA to join the existing team of PA’s who can bring a sense of fun and independence to the young person’s life, but also have the experience to offer support around skill progression enabling greater independence.
A large part of the role will be taking the young man out and about so that he can do all the activities he enjoys so much – swimming, bowling, Zumba classes, trampolining, visiting different parks and other towns, cities and shopping centres.
Part of the role will involve visiting various cafe’s and restaurant’s and the family will give the PA £3.50 for their meal when they are accompanying this young man to enjoy a meal.
Although a driver isn’t essential. If you choose to drive this young man to and from activities sometimes in your own car, which must have the correct insurance, the family will reimburse mileage at 45p per mile.
There will be personal care involved in this role.
